Mock Trial participants meet weekly in Durham near UNH to prepare to participate in the NH mock trial invitational (December) and championship (February) tournaments. Team will meet once a week for 2 hours September through February. Several longer 4 hour meetings, frequently held on weekends, are necessary prior to the 2 weekend long competitions. Home school students can count this as a one credit course and/or extracurricular activity.

Over the course of the year, we will learn courtroom procedures and practice making an argument in a pretend court setting. Members of the team take on the roles of witnesses and attorneys and prepare to argue each side of the case. A prosecution and defense team attempt to convince the judge to rule in their favor. Team members learn how to compose a clear and convincing argument, and how to present it properly for a courtroom.

The home school team has won several prizes at state competitions since its founding 4 years ago; including a top 4 witness award, and 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place attorney in the state awards. In addition the team as a whole placed 3rd in the December 2024 invitational tournament.
