Claremont isn’t the only one

People standing, sitting, and talking at an indoor fair

Our EdOpt Fair in Claremont on October 6 was a great success. We welcomed a dozen varied education providers and over 20 families from the region. There were snacks and drinks and kid activities. And everyone learned something.

You can find some pictures from the Claremont fair below.

NH map showing districts with huge deficits

We focused on Claremont because of their severe budget issues.

But we keep hearing about other towns who also have huge deficits, including Concord, Pittsfield, and Rochester. I’m sure there are more.

Even without a deficit, everyone is concerned about the rising cost of schools and property taxes.

Claremont isn’t an anomaly. School boards are not providing good oversight of their budgets, which is their primary purpose. The boards are not being given the information they need to do their jobs. That’s a problem with the system.

I don’t know how to solve these problems. But families should know their education options, of which there are many in New Hampshire.

Families have a good chance of finding something that works better for them. Come to a fair, check our website, or schedule a chat with people who can help.

EdOpt’s Goals

EdOpt’s aim is to help families understand all their education options, from non-traditional (homeschooling, homeschool co-ops, microschools) to traditional (charter schools, private schools, tech centers, dual enrollment, learn everywhere). Our website lists the education providers options around the state that we know about (please let us know if we’re missing any!) so you can investigate the ones that you’re interested in. EdOpt also provides guidance to help you understand your options. Set up an Education Options consultation today.
